Why Capitalism Trumps Fear, Socialism & All Other "isms"

Capitalism hasn't failed as the press, liberal bloggers and economic pundants would have you believe. The free market economy our founders dedicated (and sometimes gave) their lives to develop and perpetuate is not as fragile as the pessimists think.

The blog you are reading is dedicated to the economic system that has built the most powerful nation the earth has ever known. In the days and weeks ahead, I hope to show anyone who is interested why free market capitalism is the one economic system that has stood the test of time, poor government policy, wars, unbridled greed and every attack on it's virtues since the founding fathers created the place for it to flourish more than 235 years ago.

The economy is starting to recover and the weeks ahead will see more gains in the equity markets. Optimism is essential to a successful recovery. For more than a year, we have been deluged with pessimism, fear mongering and suggestions our country is in decline.

The reality is that America is in transition, not unlike the transition she went through in the 1800's when our economy began to switch from an agricultural economy to a manufacturing economy. The USA is changing and those that are learning where the new opportunities are appearing will prosper. America is not in decline, she is being reborn.

The optimism and innovation that moves an economy forward comes from individual spirit and imagination, not from government intervention. It blossoms from the private sector and the area of our society that is profoundly individual.

I welcome your comments, suggestions, questions and ideas for this blog. I seek to educate and be educated in this effort.

Happy New Year - 2010

Welcome to my blog dedicated to free market capitalism. It's become apparent to me over the last decade that our long proven system of business, finance and trade is coming under attack as never before.

Having been brought up in a long line of free market capitalists and supporters of the system, I feel compelled to contribute to it's survival and spend as much time as I can in securing its future in America.

I dedicate this blog to Brian S. Wesbury, Chief Economist at First Trust Advisors, LP and Economics Editor for The American Spectator. Reading his book "It's Not As Bad As You Think" published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has sparked a desire in me to help as many other Americans as I can to realize how blessed we are to live in this country and benefit from this system of finance and business.

I completely agree that changes to laws and policies are an ongoing process and no system is perfect. I only seek to assure future generations that the free market system be left intact and viable for their use as it has proven itself superior to all others in world history for one simple reason:

Capitalism provides personal dignity.

I hope you like what you read.
